Youtube testing new design

With nearly 8 years of video uploaded and 3 billion views logged every day on YouTube, it’s clear we watch and share many  YouTube videos.  Therefore time for a needed and well deserved re-design.

In addition to the rebranding of Google and in-line with google+ now finally Youtube has been totally revamped.

The first impression is it looks pretty similar to blip.tv , and the size of the video seems a bit out of line with the rest of the layout.

But the player skin looks a lot slicker and not seeing the obvious Youtube logo is definitely a big improvement.

A nice feature is the small red line showing the progress and duration of the video. instead of the large progress bar as before.

And here’s what the playlist viewing experience looks like , which I do like.

Once you’re in the experiment, much of YouTube will look different, including channels (see below).
